How CIJ Marking Works
CIJ keeps your line moving – nonstop inkjet performance
1. Ink Delivery
In a CIJ printing system, a pump forces a mixture of conductive ink and solvent under high pressure through an extremely fine nozzle opening.
2. Breaking the Ink Stream into Drops
Behind the nozzle, a piezoelectric crystal vibrates at ultra-high speeds. These vibrations break the continuous ink stream into uniform drops, producing up to 150,000 drops per second!
3. Electrically Charging the Drops
Immediately after the drops are formed, they pass through a charging zone, where selected drops receive an electrical charge.
4. Deflection by Electrodes
An electric field then directs the charged drops precisely onto the product – dot by dot, character by character.
5. Recycling
Unwanted drops are captured, returned to the ink-cycle, and reused.
